Acclaimed Actresses Join Sam Mendes’ Beatles Cinematic Project

Los Angeles, Nov 3 (PTI) - Sony Pictures Entertainment India has unveiled a fresh announcement revealing that acclaimed Hollywood actors Mia McKenna-Bruce, Saoirse Ronan, Anna Sawai, and Aimee Lou Wood have committed to starring in Sam Mendes’ upcoming project, "The Beatles—A Four-Film Cinematic Event."

The ambitious endeavor consists of four interconnected films, each providing an intimate portrayal of one of The Beatles' iconic members: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr.

These talented actresses will inhabit the roles of pivotal figures—the love interests of the renowned musicians—in the narrative.

Mia McKenna-Bruce is set to portray Maureen (Cox) Starkey, Saoirse Ronan will take on the role of Linda (Eastman) McCartney, Anna Sawai appears as Yoko Ono, and Aimee Lou Wood will embody Pattie Boyd, according to an official press statement.

Sam Mendes, reflecting on the casting, shared, "Maureen, Linda, Yoko, and Pattie are fascinating, distinct personalities, and I’m thrilled we have attracted four of the film industry's most talented women to be part of this extraordinary journey."

Delving into history, Maureen Cox, portrayed by McKenna-Bruce, was initially an avid Beatles enthusiast who encountered Ringo Starr at the Cavern Club in 1962. Their relationship rapidly evolved, culminated in marriage in 1965, and they were blessed with three children.

Meanwhile, Linda Eastman, a role taken on by Ronan, was an esteemed photographer who first crossed paths with Paul McCartney in 1967.

The film also explores the dynamic partnership between Japanese artist Yoko Ono, portrayed by Sawai, and John Lennon. Their bond began at an exhibition of Yoko's work in London and quickly grew, despite Lennon being married at the time, eventually leading them to a lifelong collaboration.

Aimee Lou Wood will portray Pattie Boyd, a successful model who encountered George Harrison in 1964 during the making of the Beatles’ film ‘A Hard Day’s Night.’ Their ensuing romance led to marriage, with Boyd sharing Harrison’s burgeoning passion for Eastern mysticism.

The project stars Harris Dickinson, Barry Keoghan, Paul Mescal, and Joseph Quinn in the roles of the legendary singers. This film marks a significant moment as Apple Corps Ltd and The Beatles have, for the first time, granted comprehensive life story and music rights for a scripted narrative.

"The Beatles—A Four-Film Cinematic Event" is a Neal Street production in collaboration with Apple Corps for Sony Pictures. Joining Mendes in production are his Neal Street collaborator Pippa Harris and Neal Street’s Julie Pastor. Additionally, Alexandra Derbyshire contributes as a producer.

The anticipated release for this grand cinematic enterprise is slated for April 2028.
