Jon Bon Jovi Saves the Day: Rock Legend Stops Woman from Jumping Off Nashville Bridge

Jon Bon Jovi found himself in the right place at the right time on September 11.

The rock legend was filming a music video on the Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge when he noticed a woman in a ‘moment of crisis’. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department released a surveillance video on YouTube, showing the singer and his team approaching a seemingly distraught woman on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge. The woman was standing on the outer side of the bridge’s railing, overlooking the Cumberland River.

In the over three-minute video, Bon Jovi is seen helping pull her back over the railing.

According to police, he persuaded her to step off the ledge to safety. The singer continued speaking with her, and after a heartfelt hug, they eventually walked away from the bridge together. The video has since been removed for violating YouTube’s Community Guidelines.

Metro Nashville Police Department officials took to X to give Jon Bon Jovi and his team a shoutout. ‘Bon Jovi helped persuade her to come off the ledge over the Cumberland River to safety,’ they wrote.

Chief John Drake added in the statement, ‘It takes all of us to help keep each other safe.’

Bon Jovi has long been committed to helping others. In 2006, he founded the JBJ Soul Foundation with the mission to ‘recognize and maximize the human potential of those affected by hunger, poverty, and homelessness’ by supporting programs that provide food, affordable housing, social services, and job training.

What started as a small initiative in Philadelphia has since grown to span 12 states, serving thousands of individuals, including youth and veterans, according to the nonprofit.

‘The Soul Foundation's expanded mission addresses the need for warm, nutritious meals and now operates three JBJ Soul Kitchens in New Jersey,’ the foundation shared.
