Chris Noth dropped from 'The Equalizer' amid sexual assault allegations, 'Sex and the City' actors react

Actor Chris Noth has been dropped from CBS crime drama series 'The Equalizer' following allegations of sexual assault against him.

'Chris Noth will no longer film additional episodes of The Equalizer, effective immediately', CBS and Universal Television said in a statement on Monday.

Noth who played a former CIA director on the show, will appear for one last time in an upcoming episode that has already been produced earlier.

The development comes in the wake of the actor facing sexual assault allegations from two women, who separately came forward to The Hollywood Reporter, which published the story published last week.

The 'Sex and The City' star has denied all allegations, which date back to 2004 and 2015.

Meanwhile, Noth's 'The Sex and the City' co-actors Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis have voiced their support for the women who have shared their 'painful experiences'.

Issuing a joint statement, the actors addressed the allegations of sexual assault and said they 'commend' the women who have come forward.
