Alicia Silverstone confirms she's 'alive & well' after consuming poisonous berry in England

‘Clueless’ star Alicia Silverstone raised concerns among fans on August 19th night when she posted a video of herself eating an unidentified fruit, with some viewers warning in the comments that it could be poisonous.

After not updating her social media for nearly 24 hours, fans grew even more worried.

A day later, she reassured her followers on Instagram, stating she is ‘alive and well.’

‘Don’t worry,’ she added. ‘I didn’t swallow.’

In the original video, Silverstone is seen on a UK street inspecting a mysterious berry she found. ‘I’ve discovered something I can’t identify and need your help,’ she says, showing potted plants that appear to be in a fenced yard.

She explains that she had already taken a bite out of it, wondering if it might be a tomato. ‘It’s definitely not a tomato, look at these leaves,’ she says while showing the camera the berry’s insides. Despite her uncertainty, she admitted that consuming it might not be wise, stating, ‘I don’t think you’re supposed to eat this.’

Fans expressed concern in the comments, suggesting that the berry might be a Jerusalem cherry, a potentially toxic houseplant that can be dangerous if consumed.

The concern about the berry appears justified. Jerusalem cherry poisoning can cause symptoms like diarrhea, fever, and hallucinations, according to the Queensland Poisons Information Centre. Although fatalities are rare, medical attention may be necessary in some cases.

Silverstone has previously expressed skepticism about vaccines and tampons. In her book, ‘The Kind Mama’, she criticized vaccines as containing ‘aluminum and formaldehyde’ and suggested tampons could lead to infertility. Her anti-vaccine stance led her to support Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a known proponent of vaccine misinformation.

Despite her cautious approach to other substances, it seems these concerns did not deter her from sampling an unknown fruit from the street.
