Farhan Akhtar Comments on AI-Modified 'Raanjhanaa' and Upcoming '120 Bahadur'

Mumbai, Aug 5: Filmmaker and actor Farhan Akhtar commented on the AI-altered re-release of the film "Raanjhanaa" during the teaser launch of his upcoming project "120 Bahadur." While Akhtar admits he lacks specific details about the changes, he expressed strong support for the original creators, siding with director Anand L Rai and actor Dhanush, who have criticized production company Eros International for using artificial intelligence to modify the movie's ending. The filmmaker emphasized, "I will always stand with the creator of the film and support them if they are unhappy with their work being altered."

Echoing Akhtar’s sentiments, Excel Entertainment's Ritesh Sidhwani stated that filmmakers' consent is crucial before making such changes, pointing out that AI should be deployed wisely for the benefit of a film. Sidhwani reinforced this view, stating, "You can't do it without the consent of the filmmaker."

Farhan Akhtar is set to portray Param Vir Chakra awardee Major Shaitan Singh Bhati in the forthcoming war drama "120 Bahadur." Directed by Razneesh Ghai and produced by Excel Entertainment's Sidhwani and Akhtar, along with Amit Chandrra from Trigger Happy Studios, the film highlights the bravery of 120 Indian soldiers who resisted over 3000 Chinese troops in the 1962 battle of Rezang La. Akhtar, who directed the 2004 film "Lakshya" loosely based on the Kargil War, indicated that the goal of "120 Bahadur" is to inspire future filmmakers to explore India's noteworthy past.

Ghai shared that he has been developing the story for eight years and is passionate about bringing it to the big screen. According to Ghai, "I grew up with the story, and it took me eight years to fine-tune it."

The film features a talented cast, including Jinkya Ramesh Deo, Eijaz Khan, Vivian Bathena, Ankit Siwach, and Rashii Khanna in notable roles. "120 Bahadur" is slated for release in theaters on November 21.
