‘Super Dancer 3’: Anurag Basu will not defend ‘inappropriate content’; emphasises he is parent himself

Sony Pictures Networks landed in trouble for its improper content in kids' dance show, ‘Super Dancer Chapter 3’.

The channel was issued a notice over the matter by National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR).

Now, filmmaker Anurag Basu, who is the judge of the television reality show ‘Super Dancer 3’, has addressed the issue. In a recent interview, he expressed his understanding of the situation and emphasised that, as a parent himself, he empathised with the concerns raised.

He called Super Dancer a kids’ dance reality show and said that children often say things innocently, which are sometimes not in anyone’s control.

Basu further said expressed his determination to prevent such incidents from happening again in the future.

Basu clarified that his remarks were personal and that he was not speaking as a show judge, or on behalf of the channel.

In an episode in 2019, which was judged by Shilpa Shetty, Geeta Kapur and Anurag, a child contestant is asked ‘inappropriate and sexually explicit questions’ about his parents. In response to the NCPCR’s notice, the commission asked the channel to delete the content from all platforms immediately.
