Shah Rukh Khan was recently honoured at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, receiving the prestigious Pardo Alla Carriera Award for his significant contributions to cinema. The superstar made a special trip to Switzerland to accept this accolade, marking a milestone in his remarkable career.

At the festival, SRK participated in a live session where he confirmed his role in Sujoy Ghosh’s upcoming film, ‘King’. Discussing the challenges of action films, he revealed that he would be embarking on a weight loss regimen to prepare for the intense action sequences.

‘Action is tough—you have to practice, learn, and even though doubles handle some dangerous stunts, you need to do about 80% of it yourself for authenticity. Otherwise, it just doesn’t look right,’ he shared.

Shah Rukh Khan added a touch of humor while discussing the reality behind his cool on-screen persona during action scenes. He joked that while he might appear effortless on film, the aftermath is far from glamorous.

He said, ‘In my next film, King, I need to lose some weight and stretch to avoid getting sore during action scenes. It’s painful! After filming, I’m all tied up, and the cool image disappears as I send flying kisses in discomfort.’

Accepting the Pardo Alla Carriera Award at the Locarno Film Festival, Shah Rukh charmed the 8,000-strong audience with his wit, joking about the difficulty of pronouncing the award's name. He expressed his gratitude, saying, ‘Thank you all for welcoming me with arms wider than mine on screen.’

Acknowledging the heat of the Swiss summer, he quipped, ‘Locarno is beautiful, cultural, artistic—and extremely hot. It feels just like home in India.’

Shah Rukh Khan also revealed the origin of his iconic open arms pose at the Locarno Film Festival. The signature pose, which became famous in the 1990s, was a result of a dance mishap. Khan shared that he struggled with a dance step taught by choreographer Saroj Khan. When he couldn’t master it, she suggested he simply stand with his arms out.

‘I practiced the step all night, but Saroj ji preferred the arms-out pose,’ he said. Over time, the pose became a signature of his, and Khan humorously noted, ‘There’s nothing to it—just arms out.’
