Netizens react as Akshay Kumar returns as Vimal Ambassador a year after apology

Actor Akshay Kumar has joined hands again with Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn for a new tobacco brand Vimal advertisement.

A fan account of Shah Rukh posted the video on their page. The ad also stars actor-model Soundarya Sharma.

In the video, SRK and Ajay are seen calling for Akshay’s attention while sitting in the car and honking. Akshay, who has his headphones on and is seen enjoying music, is unaware that SRK and Ajay are waiting for him.

After numerous calls from Ajay and SRK are left unheard by Akshay, Ajay opens a packet of the pan masala which easily manages to grab Akshay’s attention.

The ad has now gone viral.

Akshay’s return as Vimal ambassador

Akshay has returned as the brand ambassador of Vimal a year after he faced backlash for being associated with the brand. The actor had earlier apologised to fans for associating himself with the brand as well.

‘I am sorry. I would like to apologise to you, all my fans and well-wishers. Your reaction over the past few days has deeply affected me. While I have not and will not endorse tobacco, I respect the outpouring of your feelings in light of my association with Vimal Elaichi,’ Akshay Kumar tweeted in April 2022.

‘With all humility, I step back. I have decided to contribute the entire endorsement fee towards a worthy cause. The brand might continue airing the ads till the legal duration of the contract that is binding upon me, but I promise to be extremely mindful in making my future choices. In return I shall forever continue to ask for your love and wishes,’ he added.

Netizens unhappy

Netizens are unhappy as Akshay Kumar didn’t stick to his words.

Reacting to the video, a person said, ‘Akshay Kumar had said that now he will not do pan masala ad because his fans were not happy when he first did Vimal. Then why did he do this again?’ Another comment read, ‘Akshay Kumar was not going to do Vimal ad, then what happened? What is this decision?’

Akshay’s professional front

On the work front, Akshay Kumar was seen in the recently released film ‘Mission Raniganj’. He has several projects lined up for release, one of which is ‘Singham 3’.
