Kangana Ranaut compares herself to Shah Rukh Khan, says they are ‘the last generation of stars’

Actor Kangana Ranaut addressed her recent box-office setbacks at the Times Now Summit 2024. She drew parallels with Shah Rukh Khan's career trajectory and noted that even the biggest stars face failures. The actor said that she’s hopeful that her upcoming release, ‘Emergency’, will do wonders at the box office.

‘Poore world mein aisa koi nahi hai. Shah Rukh Khan ki 10 films nahi chali, phir Pathaan chali. Meri 7-8 saal koi film nahi chali, phir Queen chali, phir 3-4 saal baad Manikarnika chali. Now Emergency is releasing next, you never know maybe it will work wonders at the box office,’ the actor said.

Kangana Ranaut emphasised her and Shah Rukh Khan's status as the last generation of stars, asserting that OTT platforms cannot create new stars. She expressed her desire to engage more with the real world rather than being solely focused on the entertainment industry.

Kangana to fight LS polls

Kangana Ranaut is set to contest the Lok Sabha election from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency on the BJP ticket. Her candidacy was announced in the party's fifth list of candidates, aligning with her vocal support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Born in Bhambla near Manali, within the Mandi district, Kangana's political journey reflects her connection to her birthplace.

Kangana took to microblogging site X and said she was ‘honoured and elated to officially join the party’.

‘My beloved Bharat and Bhartiya Janta’s own party, Bharatiya Janta party ( BJP) has always had my unconditional support, today the national leadership of BJP has announced me as their Loksabha candidate from my birth place Himachal Pradesh, Mandi (constituency) I abide by the high command’s decision on contesting Loksabha polls. I feel honoured and elated to officially join the party. I look forward to be a worthy karyakarta and a reliable public servant. Thanks,’ the actor said in an X post.
