Here’s why Karan Johar asked room service to not deliver food to Rani Mukerji during ‘KKHH’ shoot

Karan Johar, Rani Mukerji, and Kajol revisited their memories from the ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ days during a recent episode of ‘Koffee with Karan 8’. Karan recalled how at that time he had instructed the hotel room service to regulate Rani's meals in an effort to help her lose weight.

He mentioned that he wanted Rani to wear a specific skirt and thought it would be more fitting if she shed some weight for it.

Rani also recalled that during this time, Karan ‘snatched food from my hand’ and later compensated by saying that it was his ‘innate goodness’ that made him return the plate immediately.

Karan recalled, ‘I had to tell Rani that she had to wear this short skirt in Mauritius so just lose some weight because you have to wear it. She said I’ll lose some 4-5 kilos. 4-5 kilos were not lost, they were put on. I was like how is she going to wear this short orange skirt.’

He added, ‘We instructed the room service not to give you any food. And Rani’s mom Krishna aunty was in on this. She said, ‘Voh phone karegi, bolo nahi hai khana’ (If she calls, say there is no food).’

Rani recalled an incident when she was having breakfast, ‘the most important meal of the day’, and Karan came in and told her, ‘You can’t eat this’ and ‘snatched the plate from my hand’.

Rani Mukerji mentioned an incident where Karan Johar's 'hit' her and later clarified that it was an affectionate pat. She also shared a moment from filming with Shah Rukh Khan where he jokingly 'pinched' her due to a rhythm issue, which she recounted with laughter, implying it was a playful interaction during their work together.

Rani Mukerji has worked with Karan Johar in ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’, and also appeared in a few cameos in his films.
