Adi Kailash Documentary Nominated for 18th JIFF 2026

New Delhi, Nov 10 (PTI) The documentary "Adi Kailash", helmed by director Harish Sharma, has secured an official nomination in the competition category of the 18th Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) 2026.

JIFF is an esteemed competitive film festival, annually hosted in Jaipur, that aims to spotlight emerging filmmakers and facilitate cultural exchange between India and the global community through the medium of cinema.

The production, spearheaded by Sandeep Jha, draws inspiration from the renowned Himalayan trekker and author Lalit Pant's acclaimed book, "Ajpathon se Himshikharon Tak".

This film beautifully encapsulates the spiritual pilgrimage to the revered Adi Kailash peak located in the Himalayas, a site esteemed as the holy abode of Lord Shiva in Hindu mythology, as highlighted in a press release.

With Hemant Pandey as the anchor, the documentary harmonizes ancient histories, the arduous journeys of pilgrims, and the mystical tranquility of the region, shedding light on personal narratives, indigenous traditions, and the enduring relationship between humans and nature.

Lalit Pant remarked, "Adi Kailash is not just a mountain; it is a living testament to the eternal dance of Shiva and Parvati."

Adding to this, Pandey expressed, "Anchoring Adi Kailash has been a journey back to my roots and an opportunity to showcase our region’s hidden marvels."

The 2026 JIFF is set to take place from February 13 to 15 at the Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, in collaboration with the Global Cinema Movement and Delhi Film Convention & Summit 2026.
