A woman was allegedly thrashed by a man over honking during a traffic jam here, police said on Thursday.
The incident of road rage happened at MDI chowk on Wednesday morning, they said.
The woman, in her complaint, said that the accused stopped his car in front of her vehicle after overtaking near MDI chowk, pulled her out of it and slapped her multiple times.
&ldquo;He also threatened to kill me and said that he will come to my home and beat me again.&rdquo; the victim, works with a financial services company, said in her complaint.
The man fled from the spot after people started gathering, the woman said, adding that she sustained injuries on her left eye and nose and was moved to a hospital.
An FIR was registered against the unknown man under sections 323 (causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 509 (insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code at sector 18 police station on Wednesday night, police said.
Efforts are on to identify the accused with the help of CCTV footage, SHO inspector Haresh Kumar said.&nbsp;

The police chief added that at the national level, the proportion of false rape cases is 8%. Mishra said that this showed that either other states do not register cases or treat them as complaints.
He said that in 2022, there was a 68% increase in proceedings against those who filed false cases.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on 11 January 2023 named Sharma as an accused in the murder of Sharad Chand, a former secretary of Bihar-based educational institution Balika Vidyapeeth.
Chand was murdered in August 2014 to gain control of land and assets of the institution, according to investigators. He was allegedly shot dead while he was reading a newspaper sitting in the verandah of his residence at about 6:30 am on August 2, 2014.

The alleged incident had occurred on November 26 last year when a drunk Mishra walked up to the woman's seat in the business class on an Air India New York-New Delhi flight, exposed himself and urinated on her.

An Indian-origin doctor in the United Kingdom has been handed two life sentences in addition to three he is already serving, according to reports.
A UK criminal court on 9 January 2023 sentenced 53-year-old Manish Shah to two life terms with a minimum of 10 years. In December 2022, Shah was found guilty of 25 sexual assaults against 4 women at his clinic in east London.
&nbsp;Shah is now convicted of 115 offences of sexual assault against 28 women aged between 15 and 34.
The trial heard that Shah used high-profile cases of celebrities to persuade female patients to undergo unnecessary intimate examinations for his sexual gratification over four years from 2009.
Sentencing at the Central Criminal Court, Judge Peter Rook said that Shah remained a "danger to women" and his behaviour caused "long-term psychological damage" to his victims, the BBC reported.
During the December trial, the court was told that Shah presented himself as a caring and considerate doctor prepared to go "above and beyond" for his patients by carrying out extra examinations.
But prosecutor Riel Karmy-Jones KC described how the doctor "manipulated and abused" women, according to the report.

A security guard was killed after allegedly being shot by an unidentified man during a robbery attempt in north Delhi's Wazirabad area, police said on Tuesday.

A security guard was killed after allegedly being shot by an unidentified man during a robbery attempt in north Delhi's Wazirabad area, police said on Tuesday.
They said the incident took place at an ICICI Bank ATM kiosk near Jagatpur flyover and the matter was reported to the police around 5 pm.
The victim has been identified as Jai Singh (55).
The incident occurred when the 4.50-pm cash van arrived at the ATM to deposit cash at the kiosk. Just then, a person came from behind and fired at the cash van guard and fled with the money, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi.
It is suspected that the accused took off with an estimated Rs 8 lakh, he said.
The injured guard was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.
Multiple teams have been formed and footage from CCTV cameras in the area are being scanned to identify the accused and ascertain the sequence of events, the police said.

Patna police made the arrests with the help of the CISF.

Walker was allegedly murdered by her live-in-partner Aaftab Poonawala, in May last year at their rented flat in Mehrauli.

The body of Shraddha Walker was cut up into pieces with a saw, an autopsy of her bones has revealed, according to NDTV. The autopsy of the bones was carried out at AIIMS, Delhi this month. Walker was allegedly murdered by her live-in-partner Aaftab Poonawala, in May last year at their rented flat in Mehrauli. He had chopped up her body into 35 pieces and later dumped them across the city over several days. Earlier, a DNA test had confirmed that hair and bone samples recovered by the police belonged to Shraddha Walker.

CCTV cameras at a bank branch in Gujarat's Nadiad captured distressing visuals of lawlessness on 3 February 2023.
Footage showed a person entering an office of Bank of India and repeatedly slapping an employee. When a person tried to intervene, he was slapped by a man accompanying the assailant.
A crowd then gathered, even as the assault on the bank employee continued. A few seconds later, the men are dragged away, but the first assailant broke free and again started hitting the bank staffer.
The root of the altercation was a bank loan, as per news agency ANI. A case has been registered under sections of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Two persons had also been arrested, as per some reports.

A special POCSO court here on Friday sentenced a 39-year-old man to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for repeatedly raping his minor stepdaughter and making her pregnant.

The girl told the court that her stepfather sexually assaulted her multiple times in 2016 when she was 16 years old and threatened to harm her if she revealed anything to anyone.
Her mother told the court that the man had stopped working and would indulge in alcohol and drugs. She said that she had seen him molesting her daughters and that he had been warned about that.
However, In July 2016, the family learnt that the girl was three months pregnant, the mother told the court. Later, she filed a case against the man at Shivajinagar police station in Mumbai.
Public prosecutor Veena Shelar said the court relied on a DNA report, testimonies of nine witnesses, including the girl and her mother, and medical experts to convict the man

A gunfight occurred when police later went to arrest the accused Sunny.

A Delhi Police head constable has been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) at a hospital after he was stabbed on 22 January 2023.
ASI Sunil and head constable Rinku were on patrolling duty in the Qutub Vihar area when they received a call about a fight. They found some men involved in an altercation with an autorickshaw driver.
When the policemen intervened, one of the persons fighting the auto driver stabbed Rinku twice and ran away.
The assailant was identified as Sunny a known criminal, police said. After the incident, police launched a manhunt for Sunny and his other accomplices and got a tip off that he was at a house on Bhai-Bhai Road in Qutub Vihar.
A gunfight occurred when police later went to arrest him. Sunny was shot in his legs and taken to hospital by police.
In all, police nabbed three people from the house and seized a country-made pistol, three live cartridges, and a knife from them. A hunt is on to nab other people involved in the incident, police said.

Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was on Friday again granted a 40-day parole, officials said.
The latest parole to the Dera chief, who is serving a 20-year jail term for raping his two disciples, comes three months after he was granted a similar parole.
&ldquo;The parole has been granted for 40 days. It has been granted as per rules," Rohtak's Divisional Commissioner Sanjeev Verma told PTI over the phone.
The Dera chief&rsquo;s last 40-day parole had ended on November 25 last year. He had gone to his Barnawa ashram in Uttar Pradesh after his release on October 14.
Earlier, Haryana Jails Minister Ranjit Singh Chautala, while commenting on the Dera chief's fresh parole plea, had said the latter had filed an application seeking a 40-day parole which had been forwarded to the Rohtak divisional commissioner.
During his parole period, the Dera chief is also likely to attend the birth anniversary event of former Dera chief Shah Satnam Singh on January 25, sources said.
During his previous parole period in October-November, the 55-year-old Sirsa Dera chief held several online 'satsangs' at the Barnawa ashram in UP. Some of these were also attended by BJP leaders from Haryana.
Prior to his October parole, the sect chief had come out of prison on a month-long parole in June.

He was also granted three weeks furlough from February 7, 2022, barely two weeks before the Punjab Assembly elections.
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), the apex religious body of the Sikhs, had earlier raised an objection after Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was granted a 40-day parole last year.
SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami had alleged that while special kindness was being shown to Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, Sikh prisoners lodged in jails for about three decades were not being released even after completing their sentences.
The Dera chief in 2021, along with four others, was also convicted for hatching a conspiracy to kill Ranjit Singh, a Dera manager. The Dera chief and three others were convicted in 2019 for the murder of a journalist over 16 years ago.&nbsp;

34-year-old Manish Kumar has been convicted for shipping millions of illegal and unapproved pills from India and Singapore to the US, federal prosecutors said on 19 January 2023. He smuggled the pills to people who did not have prescriptions.
A US District Court sentenced Kumar to 87 months in prison and 3 months of supervised release, along with a $100,000 fine.
Kumar&rsquo;s operation directly marketed drugs to customers in the US through advertising and calls to prospective customers from call centres in India. As part of the conspiracy, Kumar personally directed and managed shipments of drugs from drug suppliers in Singapore and India into Massachusetts and other states, it said.
In total, Kumar&rsquo;s drug business generated more than USD 3.5 million in revenue and shipped millions of illegal and unapproved pills into the United States to individuals who did not have prescriptions, prosecutors said.
