Iceland's tourism authorities have mocked Mark Zuckerberg and his new Meta project in its latest video, inviting people to enter the "Icelandverse".

Using language similar to the Facebook founder's in its video introducing Meta and the "Metaverse", an Icelandic tourism promoter talks about a "new", "immersive" world, that's "real".

In the new video, a Zuckerberg lookalike — complete with his Caesar cut and hand gestures — introduces viewers to “Icelandverse,” a place of “enhanced actual reality without silly looking headsets.”

“Some said it’s not possible. Some said it’s out of reach. To them, we say it’s already here. Seriously. Look, it’s right here,” the presenter points out the window to a breathtaking real view of snow-covered Icelandic mountains.

The video extolls Iceland’s “completely immersive” experiences, such as its real rocks, real humans and “skies you can see with your eyeballs.”

The video has already had more than 600,000 views on YouTube, just 200,000 less than Meta's own video.
