2022 is expected to be a big year for electric cars as automakers have lined up several cars to be launched in the upcoming year.

The list of upcoming electric cars in 2022: If you are looking to get into gear with a green option for your vehicle this year then 2022 may have just the right menu for you.

Here are the Electric Vehicles (EVs) you can expect to be available in showrooms in 2022:

Tata Altroz EV:

After Nexon and Tigor, this homegrown brand is set to add Altroz to the line up after showcasing in 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show. The pricing buzz puts it at an affordable Rs 13 lakh though nothing officially has been released by Tata Motors on pricing of even a launch date. Aside from it's price tag the next catch for customers comes that it is likely to offer a driving range of 250 km on a single charge.

Mahindra XUV300 Electric

Showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo alongside the KUV100-based eKUV100, this EV offering from Mahindra is likely enter the arena against the Tata's Nexon EV. . The car was delayed due to the global chip shortage and is likely to debut with a maximum range of 140 km and support a price tag close to Rs 15 lakh.

Hyundai Kona Electric 2022

India's first long-range EV will return with a facelift and a reworked price tag. The Hyundai Kona Electric is expected to be priced under the price of Rs 25 lakh with an expected launch in 2022.

BMW i4

With an expected range of around 350 kilometers and an 83.9 kWh battery pack, BMW is set to drive its EV plans into India with an electric sedan called the i4. The German carmaker is expected to launch the series in mid-2022 with a Rs 90 lakh price tag.

MINI Cooper SE

The first all-electric hatchback from MINI was sold out in just two hours after the opening of bookings in October as they bought in only 30 units. The offering in 2022 has much on offer from the BMW pack. The new configuration lets the EV sprint from zero to 60 km/h in 3.9 seconds while 100 km/h speed is achieved in 7.3 seconds. MINI Cooper SE will offer a riding range of up to 234 km (WLTP) on a single charge. Price? Around Rs 50 - 60 lakh is the buzz

Mercedes-Benz EQS

With a Rs 2 crore price tag this EV offering from Mercedes will mark the entry of the S Class of electric cars into India. It packs a 107.1kWh battery pack, which gives it a range of 770 km on a single charge.

The notable name missing from this list is the Musk-backed Tesla Model 3 which has done the test drives in India already but continues the battle on import taxes with govt while others get into the fast lane with EV launches.
