PVR Ltd, the country's largest multiplex operator, has announced a partnership with homegrown e-sports firm Nodwin Gaming to stream gaming tournaments in its theaters. PVR stock has moved from its pandemic low of Rs 720 to as high as Rs 1,640 on Monday.

Ajay Bijli, Chairperson of PVR, had exclusively told Editorji in June about their plans to revamp PVR entirely. The cinema pioneer had said it was looking to expand into gaming and live performances to lure cinema-goers back to the screens.

This is first of its kind initiative in the country that will begin with Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), the game that replaced the banned PUBG Mobile game.

As per some reports, PVR wants to grow this property on similar lines as the IPL.

At the moment, the company has chosen four cities in India, including Gurgaon, Indore, Hyderabad and Mumbai.

E-sports events will be accompanied by commentary, graphics, trivia and more, which are being handled by Nodwin Gaming. While PVR will be selling tickets for these in-theatre events.
