PM Modi Highlights Ayodhya's Solar City Transformation at Global Renewable Energy Summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Ram from the Sun Dynasty, is progressing towards becoming a model solar city. Addressing the 4th Global Renewable Energy Investors Meet & Expo (RE-INVEST) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat PM Modi shared that the work on the project was “almost complete.”

Solar Power For Lord Ram’s Birthplace

The PM said that Ayodhya is set to power homes, offices, and services with solar energy, marking a significant step in India's renewable energy journey, and fulfilling his long-standing desire. Prime Minister Modi added that India has identified 17 cities to be developed on these lines.

Climate Change & Mahatma Gandhi

PM Modi also recounted Mahatma Gandhi’s foresight regarding climate challenges. "When the world was not even aware of climate change, Mahatma Gandhi alerted the world. His life was of minimum carbon footprint. He had said that the earth has enough resources to fulfil our needs but not our greed,” PM added.

Climate Change: India’s Commitment

Highlighting India’s current contributions towards tackling climate change, PM Modi said that for India, green future and net zero were not just some fancy words but those were India's commitment.

“As a developing economy, we had a valid excuse to discard these commitments. We could have said that we cannot play a role in this sector. But we did not do that. We were the people who worried about the future of humanity,” PM Modi added.

Preparing For A Sustainable Future

He also said that today's India was creating a base for the next 1000 years. “Our goal is not just to reach the top but also to sustain at the top. India knows its energy needs and requirements to become a developed nation by 2047. We also know that we do not have our own oil and gas reserves. So, we decided to build our future on solar, wind, nuclear and hydro powers," PM Modi told the audience which also had representatives from across the world.
