<p>Under the new Motor Vehicles Aggregator Guidelines 2025, cab aggregators can charge up to twice the base fare during peak hours and no less than 50% during off-peak hours. Cancellation penalties and driver insurance also mandated.</p>

<p>The road transport ministry has allowed cab aggregators to charge up to two times the base fare during peak hours, as against 1.5 times earlier, while for non-peak hours the fare has to be a minimum of 50 per cent of the base fare.</p>
<p>The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in its 'Motor Vehicles Aggregator Guidelines 2025' said "the aggregator shall be permitted to charge a minimum of 50 per cent lower than the base fare and a maximum dynamic pricing of two times the base fare specified under sub-clause (17.1)."&nbsp;</p>
<p>Moreover, the base fare chargeable shall be for a minimum of three kilometers to compensate for "dead mileage" -- including the distance travelled without a passenger and the distance travelled and fuel utilized for picking up the passenger(s).</p>
<p>As per the guidelines, the fare notified by the state government for the respective category or class of motor vehicles, shall be the base fare chargeable to passengers availing services from the aggregator.</p>
<p>States have been advised to adopt the revised guidelines within three months.</p>
<p>In case of cancellations, a penalty of 10 per cent of the fare not exceeding Rs 100, shall be imposed on the driver, if the cancellation is made without a reason identified as valid by the aggregator.</p>
<p>A similar penalty will be imposed on the passenger when such cancellation is made without a valid reason.</p>
<p>The guidelines said the Central government shall develop and designate a portal to enable for single-window clearance of application for licence as aggregator. "The licence fee payable by the aggregator shall be Rs 5 lakhs and the licence shall be valid for a period of five years from the date of its issue," it said.</p>
<p>Aggregators have been mandated to ensure that drivers have health and term insurance of at least Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh respectively.</p>
<p>The guidelines also specified that a Grievance Officer shall be appointed by the aggregator.</p>
<p>"An aggregator shall not onboard vehicles which have been registered for more than a period of eight years from the date of initial registration of the vehicle and shall ensure that all vehicles onboarded by it should not have exceeded eight years since the date of initial registration of the vehicle," as per the guidelines.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The company has received a communication/demand order on Monday from Assistant Commissioner, Delhi regarding excess ITC availed, LIC said in a regulatory filing.</p>

<p>Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) on Monday said tax authorities have slapped a demand notice of about Rs 57.2 crore on it for excess Input Tax Credit (ITC) availed for the financial year 2020-21.</p>
<p>The company has received a communication/demand order on Monday from Assistant Commissioner, Delhi regarding excess ITC availed, LIC said in a regulatory filing.</p>
<p>The financial impact of the demand is to the extent of the GST (Rs 31,04,35,201), Interest (Rs 23,13,21,002) and Penalty (Rs 3,10,43,519), it said.</p>
<p>There is no material impact on financials, operations or other activities of the corporation, it added.</p>

<p>Tesla has made its much-anticipated debut in India, the world's third-largest automobile market, by launching its electric midsize SUV &mdash; the Tesla Model Y.</p>
<p>Priced from nearly ₹60 lakh, the Model Y is currently the only offering from Tesla available to Indian consumers.</p>
<p>The SUV will come in two variants: the Rear-Wheel Drive version priced at ₹60 lakh, and the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive version at ₹68 lakh. Buyers will also have the option to add Tesla&rsquo;s Full Self-Driving (FSD) package for an additional ₹6 lakh.</p>
<p>Available in six colour options, only the Stealth Grey variant will come at no extra cost. Other finishes &mdash; Pearl White Multi-Coat, Diamond Black, Ultra Red, Quicksilver, and Glacier Blue &mdash; will carry an added price tag. Customers can choose between white and black interiors, with all variants featuring a standard five-seat configuration.</p>
<p>Currently, Tesla has restricted deliveries and registrations to Mumbai, Delhi, and Gurugram, according to information listed on the company&rsquo;s official website. Prices are expected to vary slightly depending on state-specific taxes and fees. Deliveries of the Model Y are slated to begin in the third quarter of 2025.</p>
<p>Earlier today, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated Tesla&rsquo;s first Experience Centre in India, located at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai. Speaking at the launch, Fadnavis remarked, "I welcome Tesla here in Mumbai. Tesla has opened an experience centre here, and it is a statement that Tesla has arrived and it's a statement they Tesla has arrived in the right city and right state."</p>
<p>The opening of the Experience Centre marks a significant milestone in Tesla&rsquo;s India journey, as the brand begins gauging local interest and preparing the groundwork for a broader rollout.</p>

<p>Global EV giant Tesla officially made its entry in India on Tuesday with the launch of its first experience centre at the Maker Maxity Commercial Complex, in Bandra Kurla Complex here.</p>
<p>The experience centre was inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the presence of other dignitaries.</p>
<p>Speaking at the event, Fadnavis said the state government wants to see Tesla establish its research and development and manufacturing facilities in India, and invited the global EV major to consider the state as a partner in its journey.</p>
<p>"We wish to see research and development and manufacturing being done in India. I am sure Tesla will think about it at an appropriate stage," Fadnavis said.</p>
<p>"Consider Maharashtra as a partner in your journey," he said.</p>
<p>The CM called Tesla's decision to open its first centre in Mumbai a statement of confidence in the city and state.</p>
<p>"The inauguration of the Tesla Experience Centre is a statement that Tesla has arrived in the right city and in the right state -- that is Mumbai and Maharashtra," he said.</p>
<p>He said Mumbai is not just as the financial, commercial, and entertainment capital of India, but also an entrepreneurial hub.</p>
<p>"Mumbai stands for innovation and sustainability," Fadnavis said.</p>
<p>The CM said Tesla is more than an automotive company. "Tesla is not just a car company, it is all about design, innovation and sustainability, that is why it is loved globally," he said.</p>
<p>The chief minister said he rode a Tesla vehicle for the first time when he was in the US in 2015.</p>
<p>"I thought then that we should have such mobility in India. It has taken almost 10 years, but we are very happy that you are finally here," he said.</p>
<p>The CM expressed confidence that India will become a major market for Tesla.</p>
<p>"People in India are eagerly waiting for Tesla. I am sure you will find one of your best markets here once you start deliveries," he said.</p>
<p>Highlighting the state's readiness to support electric vehicle growth, Fadnavis said Maharashtra has a robust market for electric mobility.</p>
<p>"We are also a manufacturing hub. Our policies for charging infrastructure, vehicle promotion, and incentives for manufacturing are among the best.</p>
<p>This is a good beginning and has the potential to transform the market," he said.</p>
<p>As per industry experts, the Austin-headquartered company has already shipped in first set of cars, apparently Model Y rear-wheel drive SUVs, from its China plant.</p>
<p>Last month, Tesla India took on lease 24,565 sq ft warehousing space in Lodha Logistics Park in Mumbai for five years.</p>
<p>In June, Union Heavy Industries Minister H D Kumaraswamy said the electric carmaker is not interested in manufacturing cars in India but keen on establishing showrooms in the country.</p>
<p>Tesla has made its India debut at a time when it is facing reduced sales in Europe and China.</p>
<p>Last week, Tesla India Motors and Energy Pvt Ltd -- the Indian subsidiary of the company founded by Elon Musk -- had received trade certificate from the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Andheri.</p>
<p>Such a certificate allows the company to showcase its vehicles, conduct test drives, and begin sales.</p>
<p>Trade certificates are a necessary requirement under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules for vehicle dealers or manufacturers looking to operate unregistered vehicles for trials or promotional activities.</p>
<p>US President Donald Trump has said if Tesla were to build a factory in India to circumvent that country's tariffs, it would be "unfair" to the US.</p>
<p>Tesla CEO billionaire Elon Musk had said in April last year that his visit to India had been delayed due to the company's heavy obligations.</p>
<p>The electric car maker was seeking an initial tariff concession that would allow it to offset 70 per cent of customs duty for cars priced less than USD 40,000, and 100 per cent for cars of higher value.</p>
<p>However, earlier this year, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal stated that India will not tailor its policies to suit Tesla, and its laws and tariff rules will be formulated to attract all-electric vehicle manufacturers from across the globe to set up a base in the world's fastest-growing economy.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Indian government is preparing to divest more of its LIC stake to meet the 10% public shareholding mandate by 2027. Disinvestment department to decide timing and price.</p>

<p>The government is working on further stake sale in Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) and the disinvestment department would work out finer details of the transaction, sources said.</p>
<p>The government currently holds 96.5 per cent stake in LIC. It had sold 3.5 per cent through an initial public offering (IPO) in May 2022 at a price band of Rs 902-949 a share. The share sale fetched the government around Rs 21,000 crore.</p>
<p>Sources said the government has given its approval for further share sale in LIC through the OFS route and the discussions are still in the nascent stage.</p>
<p>"It is up to the disinvestment department to look at the market condition and conclude the stake sale," a source said The government needs to offload another 6.5 per cent stake in the public sector life insurer to meet the mandated 10 per cent public shareholding requirement by May 16, 2027.</p>
<p>The quantum of stake sale, price and timing would be decided in due course, the source added.</p>
<p>LIC's current market capitalisation stands at Rs 5.85 lakh crore.</p>
<p>Shares of LIC were trading at Rs 924.40 apiece, down 2.27 per cent over the previous close on the BSE.</p>
