Goodbye Vistara, Hello Air India: Aviation’s Mega Merger Set for November 2024

From November 12th, 2024, Air India will take over all Vistara operations as the two airlines merge under Tata Group. This merger, announced in 2022, will create one of the world’s largest airlines, with Singapore Airlines holding a 25.1% stake.

Goodbye Vistara, Hello Air India: Aviation’s Mega Merger Set for November 2024

The big date is set! The mega merger between Vistara and Air India will officially happen on November 12th, 2024.

Starting September 3rd, you won’t be able to book Vistara flights for travel after November 12th. All Vistara planes will soon be flying under the Air India brand.

But don’t worry, Vistara will continue its regular operations until November 11th, so there’s still some time to enjoy your favorite airline.

Meanwhile, the merger just cleared a major hurdle—the Indian government approved Singapore Airlines’ foreign direct investment proposal. This means Singapore Airlines will own 25.1% of the newly merged entity.

This merger, first announced in November 2022, will create one of the world’s largest airline groups, combining the strengths of both airlines to enhance Air India’s global reach with more routes and better services.
