Driving ahead as an example: Nitin Gadkari rides in a hydrogen-powered car

Union Road Transport & Highways minister Nitin Gadkari arrived at at Parliament in a green hydrogen-powered car leading with example as India pushes ahead it's green agenda.

Speaking to reporters Gadkari introduced the vehicle as he stated "The name of this car is 'Mirai', it means the future. We have to become self-reliant in fuels as well." The car is from Japan's Toyota company and the hydrogen fuel is from the Faridabad-based Indian Oil Pump.

Mirai is a pilot project as India drives ahead aiming to become 'Atmanirbhar' in the energy sector. Gadkari said that introduction of green hydrogen which is generated from water will be revolutionary as imports will be curbed and jobs will be added as the sector booms.

Nitin Gadkari has earlier urged his fellow parliamentarians to switch to electric vehicles and said if you are spending ₹100 now for fuel, you will be spending ₹10.
