After NCLT sent a notice to SpiceJet on a lessor's petition seeking initiation of insolvency proceedings against the airline, DGCA de-registers 3 planes. 2 of the 3 planes were non-operational

DGCA de-registers 3 SpiceJet planes, airline says no impact on operations

The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has de-registered 3 SpiceJet planes, said the cash-strapped airline. The airline further added that, lessors had listed 5 planes for de-registering. One of the lessors had also requested for suspension of request for de-registration of two planes.

The airline guranteed that this won't affect the operations as two of the three de-registered planes were non-operational. Lessors including Wilmington Trust SP Services, Sabarmati Aviation Leasing, and Falgu Aviation Leasing had requested for deregistering one aircraft each.

This after, the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), sent a notice to SpiceJet on a lessor's petition seeking initiation of insolvency proceedings against the airline. Aircastle, one of the lessors of SpiceJet told the tribunal that the airline's settlement offer is not good enough and the talks over missed payments were inconclusive.

On a total SpiceJet has 67 aircraft in its fleet, out of which 30 aircrafts were not in service as on 3rd May. The airline has also said that it has no idea of filing for insolvency.
