Delhi Government's announces ₹7,000 Diwali bonus for 80,000 employees

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced a ₹7,000 bonus for government employees just ahead of the much-anticipated Diwali celebrations. In a press conference held on November 6, the Chief Minister disclosed that the Delhi government has earmarked a substantial ₹56 crore for this purpose, benefiting approximately 80,000 Group B non-gazetted and Group C employees.

"We will provide ₹7,000 as a bonus to the Group B non-gazetted and Group C employees of Delhi Government. Currently, around 80,000 Group B non-gazetted and Group C employees are working with Delhi Govt. A total of ₹56,000 crores will be spent to provide this bonus," announced Kejriwal, ensuring that government employees can celebrate Diwali with even more joy and enthusiasm.

Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, holds great significance in the Hindu culture. It signifies the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. This joyous festival, celebrated on the 15th day of the month of Kartik, will fall on November 12 this year, bringing together families and communities for vibrant festivities.

Notably, this move by the Delhi government aligns with the recent approval of bonuses for Group C and non-gazetted Group B rank officials, including paramilitary forces, by the Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The finance ministry had established a ₹7,000 ceiling for non-productivity linked bonuses (ad-hoc bonuses) for central government employees for the fiscal year 2022-23.
