Malaysian authorities seized 1,069 bitcoin mining rigs in July laid them out in a parking lot at police headquarters, and used a steamroller to crush them.

As cryptocurrency concerns take centre stage, netizens were reminded of a time in July when cryptos were literally crushed in Malaysia with the police ordering a steamroller to destroy over 1000 Bitcoin mining rigs. A video of the event posted by local Sarawak news outlet Dayak Daily had gone viral on social media.

Malaysian authorities seized 1,069 bitcoin mining rigs, laid them out in a parking lot at police headquarters, and used a steamroller to crush them. In total, police destroyed about $1.26 million of mining equipment. While mining for crypto is not illegal in Malaysia, the country has strict norms on power usage for the same.
