Behind every successfull man is a woman...this is a saying of the past. A look at the billionaire index tells a different story where behind the top billionaires is a divorce and a pricey one too.

Joining the divorcees club is Google co-founder Sergey Brinthe world’s sixth-richest person, filed for a divorce from his wife of three years. Brin, 48, has a fortune of $94 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index and onlookers are already doing the math on what this will cost the tech titan.

Though Sergey's divorce will be nowhere close to the price of the much talked about Gates split. With Bill Gates worth over $116 billion, the divorce with Melinda French his wife of 27 years is likely to cost him a fortune of $80 billion.

Before the world was introduced to the Gates divorce, the Bezos break-up was the talk of the town. Jeff Bezos' divorce from his wife of 25 years, MacKenzie Bezos, was finalized by a Seattle-area judge paving the way for her to receive $38.3 billion worth of Amazon stock.

After their settlement, Jeff's net worth was reduced from $150 billion to $114 billion and MacKenzie instantly became one of the richest women in the world.

Elon Musk may not have the top mantle in this arena but the spotlight is on the world's richest man as he divorced his partner not once but twice. The tech mogul has nine children and been married three times – divorcing Pride & Prejudice actress Talulah Riley not once but twice. After their first marriage ended in 2012, Riley reportedly walked away with $4.2 million. They reconciled and wed again a year later, only for Elon to file for divorce in 2015. That time, Musk agreed to pay her $16 million in the split.
