Apple vision pro: Here's why big tech is forced to make cuts to its production forecasts

One month after unveiling its first mixed reality headset, Apple has been forced to make major cuts to production forecasts for its augmented-reality headset Vision Pro, the Financial Times reported on Monday.

As per FT reports, the headset has reportedly hit a production snag due to design complications, forcing it to scale back manufacturing.

The London-based The Financial Times said Apple's contract manufacturer in China, Luxshare, has been told to scale back production and will only make 400,000 units of the headset in 2024. Internally, the Cupertino -based technology giant had a target of 1 million units for 2024.

Citing unidentified people with direct knowledge of the manufacturing process, the report further adds that Apple has pushed back its plans for a more affordable version.

About Vision Pro

The release of vision pro was the most significant product launch by the iPhone maker since it unveiled the Apple Watch in 2015.

The Vision Pro, which challenges Facebook-owner Meta in a market that has yet to tempt users beyond videogamers and tech geeks, cost a hefty $3,499 and be available early next year in the United States only, the company said.
