Apple shoes from the 90s are up for sale for over ₹40 lakh

These sneakers were exclusively custom-made for Apple employees and were never sold to the public

Apple shoes from the 90s are up for sale for over ₹40 lakh

A pair of "ultra rare" Apple shoes that were custom-made for the tech giant's employees are now on sale.

The pair of trainers made in the mid-1990s exclusively for Apple staff is up for auction at Sotheby's, one of the portals for auctions and brokerages. Per reports, auction house Sotheby's has set the bidding price at a whopping $50,000 (Rs. 4,098,450).

“Custom-made for Apple employees, these ultra-rare sneakers were a one-time giveaway at a National Sales Conference in the mid-’90s. More than 22,000 Apple consumers purchased clothing and accessories from the brand in 1985, a testament to the public’s dedication across categories. For the products outside of Apple’s zone of expertise, they would partner with leading brands such as Lamy, Honda and Braun to apply their iconic Apple branding to various white label products," Sotheby’s mentioned on its website.

About the shoes

Called the "Omega Sports Apple Computer Sneakers," these white trainers are available through international shipping from Colorado, US. Their authenticity is guaranteed by the auction house and there's an alternate pair of red laces that you get along with it.

They are US size 10.5 (UK 8.5, EU 41), made of leather, rubber, and cotton, and are for men.

Featuring a predominately white leather upper, "a standout detail" is the old rainbow Apple logo on both the tongue and next to the laces and will be "highly coveted", said Sotheby's.
