But there's no stopping actor Anushka Sharma who is taking her production company to new heights. Clean Slate Filmz, which Anushka co-owns with her brother, has reportedly struck a whopping Rs 400 crore deal with OTT giants like Amazon Prime Video and Netflix to release several series and films over the next 18 months.

Here's all you need to know about the partnership.

How big is the deal? Rs 400 crores!

The deal to showcase films on these platforms is being pegged at a whopping Rs 400 crores, so that's a lot of money. According to reports, Clean Slate Filmz will bankroll eight films and series, which will release on Netflix and Prime Video over the next 18 months.

What is Clean Slate Filmz?

Anushka Sharma co-owns Clean Slate Filmz with her brother Karnesh Sharma. The production company had earlier released 'Bulbbul' on Netflix and 'Paatal Lok' on Amazon Prime Video, so they are well-versed with raking in the big bucks.

The production company’s maiden venture was with 2015 film 'NH10', which also starred Anushka Sharma as the female lead. Clean Slate Filmz also has multiple other releases lined up over the coming year, which include the Jhulan Goswami biopic 'Chakda Xpress', thriller series Mai, and a drama titled 'Qala'.

Theatres vs OTT debate: Smart biz move

The pandemic has once again forced people to stay at home, and with cinemas across the nation shut, people will consume more entertainment content online. This essentially means stiff competition between OTT players, so smaller production companies with more edgier content are in fray and filmmakers now have more room to experiment.
