Aadhaar card: Deadline to update details for free extended; here's how to change your details

The deadline to update Aadhaar details for free has been extended by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) by three months, from June 14 to September 14, 2023.

Till 14 September 2023, you can update and upload your proof of identity and proof of address documents for free online.

However, post the deadline, updating details of your Aadhaar card will cost ₹50.

Free updates should be done online at https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in and updates at Govt authorised Common Service Centres will be charged ₹25 as usual.

Steps to upload address proof for free

Step 1: Visit https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/
Step 2: Login and select ‘Name/Gender/Date of Birth & Address Update’
Step 3: Click on ‘Update Aadhaar Online’
Step 4: Select 'address' from the list of demographic options and click 'Proceed to Update Aadhaar'

Tracking update requests

If your online address change request is accepted, you will receive a URN (change Request Number) in the following format: 0000/00XXX/XXXXX. This is sent through SMS to the phone number you have on file. By entering your Aadhaar number and this URN, you may check the status of your Aadhaar update at https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/checkSSUPStatus/checkupdatestatus.
