40,000 Graduates Apply for Sweeper Job in Haryana: A Stark Reality of India's Employment Crisis

Can you imagine 40,000 graduates applying for a sweeper job?

This is the harsh reality that thousands of educated individuals are facing in India's current job market.

In Haryana, a Group D sweeper job posted for cleaning various government departments, corporations, boards, and civic bodies saw an overwhelming response.

As per a times of India report, a staggering 1.66 lakh candidates applied for this position, including 6,000 postgraduates and nearly 40,000 graduates.

These jobs were not even permanent government positions; they were contractual roles, offering a salary of 15,000 rupees a month.

This scenario paints a grim picture of the employment situation in India. When highly educated individuals are forced to compete for jobs that traditionally require little to no formal education, it highlights a severe mismatch in the job market.

The desperation for any kind of employment, even at the most basic level, underscores the challenges that the youth of India are facing today.

The applications were funneled through the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam Limited (HKRN), a platform designed to facilitate employment opportunities.
