Pride Month 2023: LGBTQIA+ people often come out on dating app before coming out to closed ones

Coming out is difficult for some LGBTQIA+ folks. Amid this, the latest Future of Data report by Tinder found that 54 per cent of LGBTQIA+ people aged between 18-25 said that they were out on dating apps before they were out to their friends and family.

It was also found in the study that young singles have become more fluid over the past 3 years.

Tinder also said that LGBTQIA+ members have also doubled on the app in the past two years.

It is also worth taking note that in 2019, Tinder released a safety update in which they started providing alerts when LGBTQIA+ folks travel to any of the countries that have criminalized same-sex relations.

In 2022, they also joined hands with the Human Rights Campaign in an initiative to end the blood donation ban for gay and bisexual men.
