Zelenskyy hits out at Macron over 'humiliating' Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has denounced France's president Emmanuel Macron for saying the West shouldn't "humiliate" Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Speaking at a conference hosted by the Financial Times on Tuesday, he rejected suggestions that Ukraine felt humiliated by Russia, and was trying to do the same in return.

"No one is humiliating us, we are being killed," Zelenskyy said.

"That is why we are also not going to humiliate anyone in return, we will reply with the same tool," he continued.

President Emmanuel Macron said in an interview with regional French newspapers on Friday that world powers shouldn't "humiliate Russia".

That way, when the fighting finally stopped, "we can build a way out together via diplomatic paths", the French leader said.
