Pakistani military claimed successful testing of its Shaheen-III missile on April 9. The announcement came even as the country grappled with political turmoil, and the National Assembly met for a no-confidence motion against the Imran Khan government

The Shaheen-III is a surface-to-surface ballistic missile. It has a range of 2,750 km, making it capable of reaching India's northeast, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, according to Pakistani media outlet Dawn. The Shaheen-III was first tested in March 2015.

The missile reportedly has a solid-fuel system for rapid response. It also has a Post-Separation Altitude Correction system, for better trajectory and evasion of anti-missile defence systems, according to the Dawn report.

The Pakistani army claimed that the latest test was "aimed at revalidating various design and technical parameters of the weapon system". After the successful test, Pakistani military personnel were seen celebrating and raising religious slogans in the official video.
