Watch: how animals in Chinese safari park, aquarium are beating the heat

As temperatures soar in several parts of China, safari parks and aquariums have come up with some ‘cool’ solutions to help the captive animals beat the scorching heat.

As part of what they call ‘standard cooling measures’, Hangzhou Safari Park in Zhejiang Province has installed air-conditioners, set up swimming pools, and water sprinkling devices for animals that have a hard time adapting to the summer heat.

While big animals such as tigers, bears, and elephants take a dip in the pools, smaller ones enjoy the water sprinklers.

Similarly, a polar aquarium in Hefei City in Anhui Province is offering cooling foods such as watermelon, jellies, and ice cubes among other things to its aquatic inhabitants.

China is grappling with extreme heat since the onset of summer last month. Northern China is witnessing a heatwave pushing temperatures over 40 degrees Celsius.
