War on Gaza | Khamenei told Hamas Iran won't join war directly: report

A Reuters report claimed that in early November Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei told Hamas that they won't join its war with Israel as they were not informed about the October 7 attack.

Citing three senior officials, the report said that Khamenei told Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh that Iran would continue to lend the group political and moral support, but wouldn't intervene directly.

Khamenei also reportedly pressed Haniyeh to silence those calling Iran and its ally Hezbollah to join the war.

Hamas has dismissed the report calling it baseless.
