Video: plane dodges cars during emergency landing on highway

Vincent Fraser had only received his pilot's license in October when his engine started to die on his small plane over North Carolina.

He was with his father in law up in the plane checking out land he had purchased near Fontana Lake in North Carolina.

They were among mountains when he felt the plane losing power.

"There was nowhere to land ... so I looked at him and I think I told him I loved him and that I was sorry for putting him in the situation," he said.

"And that's when he looked at me and said, 'I love you, too. You do the best you can and you're trained. And I have I have complete trust in you. And from there on, I was just like, 'Game on. Let's let's get down alive."

He decided against landing on the bridge and then planned on putting the plane down in the river, when Highway 19 in Swain County just revealed itself between mountains.

Then he had to dodge power lines and cars but managed to get down safely. No one was hurt and the plane was not damaged.

He's a former Marine who is currently a flight attendant. He wants to eventually become a commercial pilot.

When he got out of the plane, he did start having second thoughts.

"When I when I saw when I stood in front of the plane, when I got out, you know, I told myself, 'You're done.'"

"But after talking to all my family, all the support in the community, I got, you know, I got that passion back to do it. So I don't know if it happened just to give me more, I don't know if it was like to give me the confidence to continue or God forbid, this happens again, now I know that I can do it and I can make it out alive and safe."
