US Extends Independence Day Greetings to Pakistan, Highlights Economic Cooperation

Marco Rubio extended Independence Day greetings to Pakistan, emphasizing the potential for economic cooperation in minerals and hydrocarbons. Relations between the countries are strengthening, aided by recent dialogues on counter-terrorism and trade tariffs.

US Extends Independence Day Greetings to Pakistan, Highlights Economic Cooperation

Islamabad, Aug 14 (PTI) – On Thursday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Pakistan on their Independence Day, expressing the United States' eagerness to explore new avenues of economic cooperation, particularly in critical minerals and hydrocarbons.

Rubio extended these congratulations at a time when Pakistan and the US are experiencing a revival in their bilateral relationship, following years of strained ties.

“We look forward to exploring new areas of economic cooperation, including critical minerals and hydrocarbons, and fostering dynamic business partnerships, which will promote a prosperous future for Americans and Pakistanis,” stated Rubio.

He further expressed the United States' deep appreciation for Pakistan’s active engagement in areas such as counter-terrorism and trade.

Rubio's commendation comes shortly after Pakistan's Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, made his second visit to the US last week, engaging in high-level discussions with American political and military leaders.

Previously, Pakistan and the US successfully resolved differences regarding tariffs, with the US agreeing to a 19 percent tariff on Pakistani goods.

This week, both nations engaged in a counterterrorism dialogue in Islamabad, during which they committed to deepening bilateral collaboration to address key militant groups, including the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), ISIS-Khorasan, and the Taliban.
