USA: Heavy rain, flash floods in northeast, day after 4 deaths in Pennsylvania

In a mirror image of North India, heavy rains and flash floods have hit the northeastern region of the United States of America.

For the second time in a week, heavy downpour led to inundation and power outages on July 16. More than 600 flights were cancelled in New York and New Jersey.

Four people had died and three were reported missing in a sudden flash flood in Pennsylvania on July 15.

Heavy rain was also reported from the East Coast, including Vermont. Authorities warned of possible landslides in the region.

The National Weather Service issued flash flood warnings and tornado watches for parts of Connecticut, western Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire

New York Governor Kathy Hochul urged people to stay home and not drive on July 16 until the storms passed. There were no immediate reports of injuries from the storms and flooding in the state.
