US 'examining range of options' for Gaza's future. What are they?

The United States and Israel are discussing three options for the future of Gaza as a ground offensive in the Palestinian territory intensifies.

Bloomberg reported that the first option is deploying a 'multinational force that may involve American troops if Israeli forces succeed in ousting Hamas'.

'A second option would establish a peacekeeping force modelled on one that oversees a 1979 Egypt-Israel peace treaty,' the news outlet said in its report.

The third option is putting Gaza temporarily under United Nations' governance.

Bloomberg reported that the deliberations are at an early stage with some US officials considering the options premature or likely.

However, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinked on October 31 told the Senate the country is examining a range of options for Gaza's future.

“We can’t have a reversion to the status quo with Hamas running Gaza. We also can’t have — and the Israelis start with this proposition themselves — Israel running or controlling Gaza," Blinken told the US Senate.
