In a major theft in America, bulletproof vests meant to be sent to Ukraine, were stolen from an NGO building.

Ukrainian Congress Committee of America claimed that of 400 bulletproof vests kept at their New York premises, around 300 were stolen. The vests had been donated by local law enforcement as aid to Ukraine which has been facing Russian military attacks since February 24.

A spokesperson for the non-profit organisation said that the vests were not military-grade, but could've been worn by healthcare professionals, or those venturing outside amid gunbattles on the streets. Andrij Dobriansky said that the vests were light and soft enough to be worn inside clothes.

Dobriansky said, "So we don't we don't know exactly how they came in. We did not see any signs of forced entry, but we are not forensic experts, but nothing was broken in respect of somebody smashing something in."
