Terror case on Imran Khan: Pakistan ex-PM accused of threatening police, judges, Election Commission

In fresh trouble for Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan has been booked under the Anti-Terrorism Act. Khan has been accused of threatening police, judiciary and other state institutions at an Islamabad rally held on 20 August 2022.

The First Information Report filed by the police reportedly says that Imran Khan "terrorised and threatened top police officials and a respected female additional sessions judge" with the aim to stop them from performing their functions and abstain from pursuing any action against any individual related to his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf party (PTI).

In his speech, the former PM had reportedly threatened to file cases against top police officials, a woman magistrate, Election Commission of Pakistan and political opponents over the arrest of his associate Shahbaz Gill, who is facing sedition charges.
