'Tareekh pe tareekh': Pakistan minister's Bollywood dialogue to defend Imran Khan during no-trust vote

Amid continuing political turmoil in Pakistan, the National Assembly convened once again on April 9 to vote on the no-confidence motion against Imran Khan's government.

The no-trust motion was revived by the Pakistani Supreme Court which also cancelled the dissolution of the Assembly. Imran Khan was absent from the House during the proceedings.

The defence of his government was led by foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi who is also the vice-chairman of Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party. Qureshi accused the Opposition of indulging in horse-trading to steal legislators and destabilise the government.

Qureshi claimed that during an earlier episode of horse-trading, the PTI had submitted proof with the Election Commission, but after multiple hearings over the course of a year, the judgment is still reserved.

Many allies have deserted Imran Khan, and joined ranks with the Opposition, putting the government in minority.
