A leader of the Afghan Taliban mocked Pakistan citing the country's military surrender to Indian forces in the 1971 war.

Ahmad Yasir on 2 January 2023 reacted to Pakistan interior minister Rana Sanaullah's hints at possible action against hideouts of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Afghanistan.

Taliban's Ahmad Yasir tweeted a photograph of Pakistan Army's Lieutenant General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi signing the instrument of surrender in 1971.

Yasir's caption read, "This is Afghanistan, the graveyard of proud empires. Do not even think of a military attack on Afghanistan, otherwise there will be a shameful repetition of the military agreement with India."
