Sri Lanka Calls for Diplomacy Amid Israel-Iran Tensions

Colombo, Jun 23 (PTI) Sri Lanka urged diplomatic measures on Monday to address the current Israel-Iran conflict, following the involvement of the United States.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement expressing serious concern over the latest developments in the Middle East. "We continue to call upon all parties to take concrete steps to de-escalate the situation," the statement read.

Sri Lanka emphasized the need for all involved parties to return to dialogue and engage in significant diplomatic efforts to establish and maintain peace, which is crucial for ensuring stability in the Middle East region.

On Sunday, the United States targeted Iran's nuclear facilities at Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz in an attempt to dismantle the country's nuclear program.

President Donald Trump stated that the US military conducted a "very successful" operation against these three nuclear sites and issued a warning of further action should Iran decide to retaliate.
