Shehbaz Sharif Advocates Palestinian State at Gaza Peace Summit

Islamabad, Oct 14 (PTI) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif affirmed Pakistan's commitment to a Palestinian state established along its pre-1967 borders. This statement was made via social media as he departed the Egyptian resort of Sharm el Sheikh for Pakistan, following the historic Gaza peace summit.

Sharif shared his reflections on X, noting the transformative potential of the summit and explaining Pakistan's deep involvement. "As I board the plane to return home after the Gaza Peace Summit in Sharm el Sheikh, I want to share some reflections on the potentially transformational nature of what took place and why Pakistan has been so deeply involved," he remarked.

The Prime Minister highlighted that Pakistan's primary focus is the immediate cessation of the violent campaign against Gaza, a stance that Pakistan has consistently communicated alongside other allied nations. He emphasized that the freedom, dignity, and prosperity of the Palestinian people are of utmost importance to Pakistan. "The establishment of a strong and viable Palestinian state with pre-1967 borders and Al Quds Al Sharif (Jerusalem) as its capital remains the bedrock of Pakistan's Middle East policy and will remain so," Sharif stated.

He extended his gratitude to the US President for his efforts in facilitating the Gaza deal. "Our gratitude to President Trump is anchored in him promising that he would make it stop, and delivering on that promise. We will continue to express our admiration for President Trump’s unique contribution to peace," noted Sharif.

During his presence at Sharm el Sheikh, Sharif gained prominence when President Trump commended him and Pakistan's army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, inviting him to address the participants on Monday evening. The Pakistani leader seized this moment to commend Trump for orchestrating peace and reiterated his proposal for Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize nomination.
