With the Russia-Ukraine war continuing for the tenth day on March 5, a Russian senator's claim about the country suffering heavy losses in the conflict came to light.

On March 4, during a meeting of the Russian Federation Council, Lyudmila Narusova reportedly said that the Russian government had forced conscripts to sign up to fight. She went on to claim that the Russian forces are suffering such heavy losses that in one place, out of a company of 100 soldiers, only 4 survived.

Narusova said, "There was an evacuation from the conflict zone yesterday of those very conscripts who were either forced to sign contracts or had them signed for them. Ultimately, out of the company of 100 people, only four were left alive."

Lyudmila Narusova is reportedly the widow of incumbent Russian President Vladimir Putin's former mentor Anatoly Sobchak.

Meanwhile, the President of Ukraine claimed that his country's forces had killed almost 10,000 Russian soldiers in 10 days of war. Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, "Almost 10 thousand Russian soldiers killed. 10 thousand. This is dreadful.18-year-old, 20-year-old boys. Very young, almost children. Soldiers who were not even explained why they were going to fight."

On March 2, the Russian government had officially admitted 498 casualties among its forces.
