Russia targets reporter with raid, probe over 'anti Putin' protest

Russia on Wednesday raided its former TV reporter Marina Ovsyannikova for staging an anti-Putin protest that called the Russian President 'a killer' and his soldiers 'fascists.'

Post raid, the former TV journalist is expected to be probed by an investigative commitee, her lawyer told a Russian media outlet.

The lawyer added that a law enacted after February 24 invasion of Ukraine penalises statements against the military with 15 years in prison.

The journalist-turned-activist on March 14 made global headlines after she held a placard in a live show that read "stop the war, don't believe the propaganda, they are lying to you."

She was fined 30,000 rubles (USD 270 at that time) for deploring the Russian military
