Russia not ruling out foul play in Wagner chief’s death

Russia has not ruled out “deliberate wrongdoing” in its investigation of the plane crash that killed Wagner group chief Yevgeny Prigozhin and his aides.

Kremlin explained that “different versions” of theories exist currently and are being considered. The Russian Investigative Committee is currently probing the crash after blocking an international investigation.

Moscow previously axed allegations that suggested Prigozhin’s plane crash was planned.

A business jet carrying Prigozhin, founder and leader of the private military force Wagner, and his top lieutenants crashed halfway between Moscow and St. Petersburg last Wednesday, killing all 10 people on board.

The crash occurred exactly two months after Prigozhin mounted a short-lived armed rebellion against Russia’s military leadership, posing the biggest challenge to President Vladimir Putin’s authority in his 23-year rule.
