Russia bans Hollywood stars as revenge against US sanctions on Ukraine war: Sean Penn, Ben Stiller named

Responding to American sanctions, Russia on Monday announced new sanctions on 25 Americans including actors Sean Penn and Ben Stiller. US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo has also been named in the new sanctions list.

Russia said the list of banned people also includes business leaders, academics and government officials - all of whom would be permanently banned from entering its territory.

Moscow had earlier issued sanctions against US President Joe Biden and other lawmakers. Washington has also sanctioned a number of top Russian leaders and government officials.

The ongoing tussle between the two countries has stemmed from the conflict in Ukraine.
