Pulled from shipwreck, here's how much world's oldest pair of jeans has been sold for

Dubbed as world's oldest, a pair of white jeans has been sold for a whopping US $114,000, which is 94 lakhs INR.

The jeans, as per a Times Now report, was "pulled from an 1857 shipwreck off the coast of North Carolina, US."

The report also claims that washed pair was one of the 270 Gold Rush era artefacts that were sold for a total of $1million in Nevada's Reno last week.

As far as jeans' manufacturer is concerned, it's still not clear if it belongs to Levi Strauss, which is world's most popular and oldest jeans maker.

Reports claim that the pair of white jeans dates back to pre-Levi's days, at least 16 years before the manufacturer ventured into clothing. San Francisco-based Levi's first pair was officially manufactured in 1873.

Some historians, however, have pointed to the possibility of the rugged pair belonging to Levi's claiming that white pants was their initial product in the line of jeans.

But the company Levi Strauss & Co, maintained that "not until 1873 were they involved in manufacturing of clothing."
