Princess Kate Urges Parents to Disconnect from Phones

London, Oct 9 (AP) The Princess of Wales has offered advice for parents: Please set aside your phones.

Commonly known as Kate, she has partnered with adult development researcher Robert Waldinger to highlight how technology is fueling a widespread disconnection that adversely affects family bonds.

The essay, available on the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood website, argues that devices intended to keep us connected often achieve the opposite effect. "We often sit in the same room, yet our minds are distracted by countless apps, notifications, and feeds," the authors explained. "While we are physically present, we find ourselves mentally absent, unable to fully engage with those around us."

The princess has prioritized early childhood development as one of her key initiatives. She has now collaborated with Waldinger, who serves as the director of the Harvard Study of Adult Development—a long-term examination of adult life and happiness. The study found that individuals with stronger relationships tend to experience happier, more fulfilling, and healthier lives.

"Look the people you care about in the eye and be fully present—because that is where love begins," they advised.
