Amid rising pollution levels, Thailand authorities have asked people to stay indoors.

Media reports suggest that there has been a massive spike in air pollution in the capital city of Bangkok and neighbouring provinces, which has prompted the government to intensify efforts to curb pollution.

Authorities have asked working professionals to work from home, while for school children, advisories have been issued to avoid outdoor activities.

The exacerbating pollution level has caused smog resulting in poor visibility. Locals are facing breathing issues, and eye burns.

At PM2.5 pollution level, Bangkok is currently the sixth worst polluted city in the world, as per Swiss air quality tracking platform IQAir.

Thailand's pollution control department has blamed stagnant weather conditions, emissions from vehicles and fires on agricultural lands among the factors hampering air quality.
